LMX 4 contains 4% lidocaine and can be used by physicians and other health care

professionals to numb the skin prior to performing minor surgery, insertion of IV lines,

obtaining blood specimens, and other such procedures.

Following the application of LMX 4, you may notice a slight cooling sensation followed

by an increased numbing feeling in the area covered by the cream. Areas of skin not in

contact with the skin will not be affected.

Do not apply LMX 4 to children under two years of age without consulting a physician.

Prior to applying LMX 4, use only mild soap and water to clean the area. Do not use

skin cleansers containing alcohol or acetone as they will strip the naturally occuring

oils that LMX 4 needs to penetrate the skin. LMX 4 should only be used externally.
